Amano Shrimp (Caridina multidentate), also known as Yamato Shrimp, are one of the most popular and hardy freshwater aquarium species. They grow about twice as large as dwarf shrimp, attaining a maximum size of over two inches, and they typically live a much longer lifespan! Unlike most dwarf shrimp species, Amano Shrimp will only reproduce in brackish water (salt water mixture), so they will almost certainly never breed in a home aquarium.
